DULCOSOFT ORAL SOLUTION 100 ML
For warnings, precautions for use and contraindications, please consult the instructions for use.
There are several types of constipation:
- Acute constipation: intestinal transit decreases, thereby reducing the frequency of bowel movements. The patient finds it harder to defecate, and may end up not having a bowel movement at all.
- Transient or occasional constipation: when the patient has no more than 3 bowel movements a week for several weeks at a time.
- Severe constipation, which can last several days. It is also resistant to treatment, with the patient having only one bowel movement a week.
- Chronic constipation: severe constipation that occurs suddenly over a shorter period of time, i.e. acute; or over several weeks or months, i.e. chronic.
Description DULCOSOFT SOLUTION BUVABLE 100 ML
DULCOSOFT SOLUTION BUVABLE 100 ML is a macrogol-based medical device used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation.
Macrogol is an osmotic laxative substance, capable of increasing the volume of intestinal fluids. This increase will soften stools and stimulate the intestine and colon (via neuromuscular receptors in the wall of the digestive tract). They will then increase their motricity to expel the stools, which will also become less dense.
Directions for use DULCOSOFT SOLUTION BUVABLE 100 ML

Composition
Oral solution:
10 ml solution contains 5 g macrogol 4000. Excipients: potassium sorbate (preservative), citric acid, purified water.
Powder:
1 sachet of 10 g powder contains 10 g macrogol 4000.
Properties, use
DulcoSoft is a medical device whose main component is macrogol 4000, an osmotic laxative. Macrogol 4000 has a high water-holding capacity. It acts as a carrier to transport liquid (water) and delays intestinal water absorption, leading to an increase in the amount of water in the colon. It softens hard stools and increases their volume. This speeds up transit and makes evacuation easier, offering a sensation of natural relief. Macrogol 4000 has a purely physical mode of action: it is not absorbed by the body and is excreted unchanged.
DulcoSoft is recommended for relieving constipation and softening hard stools.
Directions for use
DulcoSoft has an unflavored taste and can be dissolved (sachet) or mixed directly (drinking solution) in water or in a cold or hot beverage (approx. 150 ml): glass of water, fruit juice or tea, for example.
Adults and children aged 8 and over:
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose is 20 to 40 ml of solution (dose measured using the dosing cup) or 1 to 2 sachets per day (equivalent to 10 to 20 g of macrogol 4000), preferably to be taken as a single dose in the morning.
The dose recommended above should be adapted to individual needs. It can range from 1 dose per day to 1 dose every 2 days. The appropriate dose is the lowest that produces regular soft stools.
DulcoSoft usually takes 24 to 72 hours to take effect. It should not be taken for more than 15 days. If constipation persists, the cause should be investigated.
Do not take a double dose of DulcoSoft if you have forgotten your previous dose.
Excessive doses of DulcoSoft may cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension or vomiting, which stops when treatment is stopped or the dose is reduced.
Significant fluid losses due to diarrhea or vomiting may require correction of electrolyte imbalance. In these circumstances, contact a physician.
Precautions for use
In the event of pregnancy or breastfeeding DulcoSoft may be taken, nevertheless, it is recommended to seek medical advice before using DulcoSoft.
Do not use :
-
in case of allergy to macrogol 4000 or any of its components,

abdominal pain syndromes of undetermined cause.
As with all laxatives, an organic disorder should be ruled out before starting treatment.
DulcoSoft should not be used daily over a prolonged period without determining the cause of the constipation.
Consult a doctor in the event of persistent abdominal pain.
In the event of diarrhoea, patients prone to disturbances of fluid or electrolyte balance (e.g. the elderly, patients with hepatic or renal insufficiency, or patients taking diuretics) should be treated with caution and electrolyte balance monitored.
Allergic manifestations (such as anaphylactic shock or reaction, angioedema, urticaria, rash, hypersensitivity) have been reported in patients taking macrogol-containing products.
In case of signs or symptoms described above, stop taking DulcoSoft and consult a doctor immediately.
