Royal jelly is a white, pearly substance secreted by bees. Only the queen bee can consume it throughout her life, while other bees only receive it for the first three days of their existence. While bees have a life expectancy of 45 days, that of the queen climbs to 4-5 years, i.e. 40 times longer. This longevity suggests that royal jelly has important health properties.
Also known as "bee's milk", royal jelly is made from pollen and honey by glands in the bees' brains. This highly complex and unique substance has astonishing properties for vitality and the immune system. Royal jelly is therefore the ideal supplement to take before winter and at any time of the year in case of temporary fatigue.
Royal Jelly is a real blessing from nature, a concentrate of vitamins and trace elements. It contains carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, amino acids, numerous minerals (copper, iron, phosphorus, etc.), vitamins (especially B group B1, B5, folic acid) and biotin.
Royal jelly has many positive effects on our health. It contains between 13 and 18% protein, around 15% carbohydrates and between 3 and 6% lipids. It also provides phosphorus and choline, real memory boosters. The freeze-dried form preserves all the vital constituents and maintains their qualities until digestion.
It is also a source of minerals such as zinc, silicon, iron, calcium and potassium, and contains all the B vitamins and antioxidants. Thanks to this excellent nutritional cocktail, royal jelly is the bête noire of viruses, as these nutrients act synergistically to boost our immune defenses and help our bodies fight infections.
It's also an asset for countering physical fatigue and stimulating our little grey cells. Thanks to the magnesium and vitamins B3 and B5 it contains, three essential elements for the proper functioning of our nervous system and regulators of adrenalin production, royal jelly helps us cope better with stress, plays a role in our good mood and improves our sleep. This substance is also reputed to delay the effects of aging, helping to preserve youthful skin, hair and nails. Finally, it reduces menopausal symptoms.
Ideally, royal jelly is taken in the morning on an empty stomach, i.e. before breakfast. Capsules and ampoules should be kept in a cool, dry place. It is best consumed undiluted.
Dosage: If taken undiluted, the dosage is 300 to 700 mg (equivalent to a pinhead of product), to be taken daily for about a month. Its flavour is a little acidic and may displease some. A tip: take a glass of fruit juice immediately afterwards, or mix it with a spoonful of honey, for its antibacterial properties. The dosage of freeze-dried royal jelly is between 100 and 250 mg perday, to be taken for 4 to 6 weeks.
It can be taken as a preventive treatment in autumn and spring, to boost the immune system as you enter and leave winter, after an infectious episode to re-energize you, and throughout the year in case of fatigue or to strengthen the nervous system (in preparation for exams or during periods of stress, for example).
Royal jelly can be consumed by everyone. "Elderly people in particular will find it an excellent stimulant of cognitive capacity and energy, with no interaction with other ongoing treatments, if any", assures the specialist. However, it is advisable to wait until the age of 5 before giving it to children, and pregnant and breast-feeding women should seek the advice of their GP before taking a course of treatment.
Royal jelly is available in glass jars, ampoules and capsules.
Overall, royal jelly promotes cell regeneration. It is an effective dietary supplement for accelerating hair growth and increasing resistance. Its rich nutrient content makes royal jelly highly nourishing for the hair fiber.
Royal jelly is rich in vitamin B5, pantothenic acid, deoxyribonucleic acid, vitamins, minerals, lipids and antioxidants.
Its nourishing and regenerating properties have a positive effect on hair structure and moisture levels. Particularly when hair is dry, dull and brittle.
Royal jelly is best taken as a 1 to 3-month course of treatment during the changing seasons. Although it is effective in treating an existing problem, its use is ideally recommended as a preventive measure.
