Pouxit XF is indicated for the treatment of head lice in adults and children over 6 months of age.
Insecticide-based anti-lice products (permethrin, malathion), which are effective but potentially irritating, are being replaced by insecticide-free products.
In addition to being well-tolerated, the mechanical mode of action of the latter, unlike insecticides, is unlikely to induce resistance. Insecticide-free lice treatments contain oily compounds whose viscosity enables the product to penetrate the respiratory tract of lice and nits, killing them by asphyxiation.
