Factors influencing the appearance of hair
- To have a beautiful coat, our dogs and cats must receive a balanced diet. Indeed, fatty acids, vitamins and proteins are essential for healthy hairs. In addition, if the diet is correct but the animal does not assimilate normally, it will also have a deficiency in these elements.
- Some hormones also influence hair growth. Among them are the glucocorticoids that inhibit the growth of hair, and the thyroid hormones that stimulate it. Thus, during diseases affecting the organs producing these hormones (adrenal, thyroid), the appearance of the coat is changed.
- Parasites and skin fungi are another cause of skin change.
- Finally, some animals with behavioral problems can lick frantically and cause browning and hair loss.
