How to reduce the occurrence of hemorrhoids?

There are several risk factors that can promote the appearance of internal or external hemorrhoids:

  • Spend hours and hours sitting or standing .
  • Lift very heavy loads continuously and repeatedly.
  • Eat strongly spicy foods.
  • Dehydration, i.e. drinking insufficient amounts of water.
  • Eat diets that do not contain a lot of fiber .
  • Obesity and pregnancy , because both cause great pressure on the veins of hemorrhoids.
  • Repeated constipation and diarrhea that cause irritation of the mucous membrane and anal veins.
  • The elderly are much more susceptible to hemorrhoid attacks than the young because hemorrhoidal tissue weakens with age.

LEXICON (summary)

hemorrhoids
Abnormal dilatation of a vein of the anus or rectum developing either outside or inside. It can cause bleeding.

impatience
Difficult sensations localized in the legs. They manifest themselves, usually at bedtime, by a feeling of discomfort, an irrepressible need to move the legs.

venous insufficiency
Inability of leg veins to raise blood to the heart.

lymphatic
Regarding the lymph, a colorless liquid circulating in specific vessels and whose accumulation causes edema.

phlebitis
Inflammation of a deep vein with formation of a blood clot, usually affecting the legs. The severity of the phlebitis is related to the possibility of a clot displacement that can migrate to the heart and then come to obstruct an artery of the lungs (pulmonary embolism). Paraphlebitis, or superficial phlebitis, is the inflammation of a superficial vein; it is much less worrying.

angioedema
Edema of allergic reaction usually affecting the face. Quincke's edema results in sometimes dramatic swelling. The eyelids are often the first affected. In the rare cases where swelling affects the throat, breathing problems may occur and urgent treatment is required.

symptomatic treatment
Treatment that suppresses or alleviates the symptoms of a disease without attacking its cause.

capillary vessels
Blood vessels finer than hair (hence their name) that irrigate cells.

vascular
Regarding the blood vessels: arteries and veins.

veinotonic
Refers to a medicine that has the property of increasing the tone of the wall.
