What is VitA Nuit ointment used for?

VitA Nuit is an ophthalmic ointment specially formulated to improve the tear film and protect the surface of the eye. This ointment is ideal for people suffering from dry eyes and looking for a treatment to improve visual comfort. However, it is important to note that VitA Nuit cannot be applied while wearing contact lenses.

Indeed, if you suffer from dry eyes, you know how uncomfortable this can be. Fortunately, VitA Nuit ophthalmic ointment has been specially designed to relieve symptoms and form a protective film on the surface of the eye. It is formulated without phosphates, for safe and effective use. In fact, the tear film is a layer of tears that normally covers the cornea, protecting and moistening it. However, when tear production is insufficient or the tear film disappears too quickly, this can lead to painful sensations such as itching or stinging. There are many causes for this, from air conditioning to sun exposure.

By using VitA Nuit at night, you can control dry eyes and avoid the formation of crusts and deposits on the eyelashes and eyelid margins, as well as sticky eyelids on waking. Finally, this ointment also prevents eye irritation, and can be used in conjunction with daytime dry eye solutions.

What causes dry eyes?

Dry eye, also known as dry eye syndrome, is a common condition characterized by insufficient tear production or poor tear quality. This condition can cause burning, stinging, itching, redness and blurred vision. Here are some of the most common causes of dry eyes:

  1. Age: As we age, tear production naturally declines, making us more susceptible to dry eyes.
  2. Gender: Women are generally more prone to dry eyes due to hormonal fluctuations, especially during pregnancy, oral contraceptive use and menopause.
  3. Medications: Certain medications, such as antihistamines, antidepressants, beta-blockers and diuretics, can reduce tear production.
  4. Medical conditions: Autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus can affect the lacrimal glands and cause dry eyes. Other conditions, such as diabetes and thyroid dysfunction, can also contribute to this condition.
  5. Environment: A dry, windy or smoky environment can cause tears to evaporate rapidly, leading to dry eyes. Long periods spent in front of a computer screen or smartphone can also aggravate the situation.
  6. Eyelid problems: Certain conditions affecting the eyelids, such as blepharitis, can disrupt the even distribution of tears over the surface of the eye, causing dryness.
  7. Wearing contact lenses: Wearing contact lenses for long periods can irritate the surface of the eye and reduce the amount of tears produced.

How do I use this ophthalmic ointment?

To apply the ointment, unscrew the cap and tilt your head back slightly. Then gently pull the lower eyelid downwards with a finger. Hold the tube vertically over the eye with the other hand and apply gentle pressure to draw a line of ointment into the space between the eye and the eyelid. Then slowly close your eyes and blink normally. Close the tube carefully after use.

What are the side effects and contraindications?

  • Do not ingest
  • It is important to use VitA Nuit only when the tube is sealed intact before first use.
  • VitA Nuit should not be used in conjunction with other ophthalmic medications.
  • If concomitant treatment is required, VitA Nuit should be applied 30 minutes after the other medication.
  • If application is necessary during the day, it should be borne in mind that the high fat content of VitA Nuit may cause temporary visual discomfort, making it dangerous to drive, operate machinery or carry out unprotected work.
  • The contents of one tube of VitA Nuit are intended for the treatment of one person only, and should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the excipients.
  • It is also not recommended to use VitA Nuit immediately after eye surgery or acute eye injury, as no clinical studies are available to assess the safety of using this drug in these situations.
