Ingredients and notable excipients of Combantrin syrup

Combantrin syrup contains the following excipients: sodium benzoate, glycerol and sorbitol 70% crystallizable. The bottle contains 15 ml.

Dosage and administration of Combantrin syrup

The dosage of Combantrin syrup depends on the patient's weight and the type of parasite to be treated:

  • For pinworms: 10 mg/kg in a single dose
    • Children over 12 kg: approximately 1/2 measuring spoon (i.e. 2.5 ml per 10 kg of weight)
    • Adults under 75 kg: approx. 3 teaspoonfuls
    • Adults over 75 kg: approx. 4 scoops

In the case of pinworm disease, treatment should be carried out in a single dose and repeated 3 weeks later to avoid reinfestation.

There's also combantrin tablet, suitable for children over 6 who can swallow the tablets.

Hygiene measures and precautions to take in the event of parasitosis

To prevent the spread of infestation, it's essential to treat all family members at the same time, even if some don't show any particular symptoms. Strict hygiene rules are also recommended:

  • Daily cleaning of the anal area
  • Brushing and trimming short nails several times a day
  • Change underwear and pyjamas regularly
  • Avoid sandy playgrounds, which are often contaminated by animal droppings.

Treatment of other types of worms and precautions for use

For treatment of other types of worms, consult your doctor. Combantrin syrup should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, notably the azoic coloring agent (E110). If you are taking or have recently taken any other medication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
