Sore nipples can be linked to the way your baby latches on when suckling. So it's important to find the cause of the problem (and the help of a healthcare professional if necessary), and in the meantime Lansinoh HPA® lanolin can help soothe and protect nipples.

What is Lansioh Pure Lanolin Breastfeeding Cream used for?

Lansinoh HPA® lanolin is currently the safest and purest lanolin in the world, thanks to a unique, natural process. It has been specially created to soothe and protect the damaged, sore nipples of nursing mothers.

When breastfeeding, it's not uncommon to encounter problems of varying degrees of severity that can disrupt latching on and cause pain for the mother. In fact, erosions and cracks are the most frequently observed, although they are mainly caused by the baby's position or incorrect latching on. This ointment helps to relieve these pains, allowing baby and mom to breastfeed with peace of mind.

Sore nipples can be linked to the way the baby latches on when suckling. It is therefore important to find the cause of the problem (and the help of a health professional if necessary) and in the meantime Lansinoh HPA® lanolin can help soothe and protect the nipples.

Lansinoh HPA® lanolin is the safest and purest nipple cream available, and is totally hypoallergenic. Lansinoh HPA® is the only lanolin to have been awarded the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Aprouval.

Breast-feeding is strongly recommended for at least six months after delivery. Despite its undeniable benefits, breastfeeding isn't always easy for some mothers, as breastfeeding disorder can develop as early as the baby's first week of life, or appear a little later. This condition encompasses all the discomfort associated with breastfeeding.

The first explanation for the pain comes from the state of the nipples after the first week following delivery. If they remain tender after this period, the mother will feel persistent pain when feeding.

In other, equally common cases, the pain is simply due to the baby's poor position during breastfeeding. Infections, blisters and cracked nipples can also cause pain.

If you are suffering from pain during breastfeeding, the best thing to do is to use the relaxation techniques you have learned in childbirth preparation sessions. If your baby can't suckle your breast properly, use your hand or a breast pump to help.

Some mothers experience burning or pulsating pain after feeding. The nipples turn white after feeding, then red and sometimes blue, before turning pink again. For some mothers, this is due to a temperature difference between the cool ambient air and the warmth of the baby's mouth. It may also be due to the baby squeezing the nipple or latching on incorrectly, reducing the blood flow to the nipple.

Made from pure lanolin, Lansinoh cream does not need to be removed before breastfeeding.
Lansinoh cream protects and soothes pain during breastfeeding, preventing the nipple from becoming dry and effectively combating cracks.
It contains no preservatives, water, chemicals or fragrances. It is purified using a natural process.

We also recommend Castor Equi Boiron 20 g Pommade Allaitement Crevasse mamelon homeopathic ointment acts directly on the affected areas, providing fast, effective relief.

How to use it

Apply to the nipple after each feed, and more often if necessary.
Dry your nipples with a clean cloth. Do not leave to dry in the open air.
With clean hands, soften a pea-sized amount of cream between your fingers, then apply it carefully all over the nipple. If necessary, you can apply a small amount of cream to the center of the disposable nursing pad.

Rinse your nipples with lukewarm water when showering or bathing. The use of shower gel or soap on the nipple area is not recommended.

Precautions for use

Store the tube at room temperature. The higher the temperature, the easier it is to apply.
