What is Pranarom Sumatra benzoin essential oil used for?

Sumatran benzoinessential oil has anti-convulsant effects, which are likely to be observed when inhaled. It is anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, analgesic and nerve-balancing. It is an expectorant and skin-healing essential oil.

Native to Asia and the islands of Oceania, this large tree cultivated in Sumatra has whitish twigs, acuminate leaves, white underneath, fleshy-petaled flowers, white on the outside and red inside, the fruit is a drupe, the secretion is pathological and exists only in reaction to wounds, its fragrant resin is harvested after incision of the trunk.

The scent is reminiscent of vanilla. According to Strabo, it has been used as an analgesic. Its favorable action on the psyche rebalances the emotional (used by traditional practitioners).

Used for :

  • Acne, minor burns, scars, wounds
  • Various dermatoses, eczema, chilblain, dry skin, pruritus, psoriasis

Pranarom Sumatran benzoin essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the resins of the Styrax benzoin tree. It is composed mainly of benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate and methyl benzoate, the active compounds that give it its therapeutic properties.

Properties :

  • Anti-convulsant: Sumatran benzoin essential oil has anti-convulsant effects, making it an interesting choice for relieving seizures.

How to use this essential oil

Pranarom Sumatra benzoin essential oil can be used in several ways:

  • Diffusion: A few drops in a diffuser will allow you to benefit from its relaxing and expectorant properties.
  • Inhalation: A few drops in a bowl of hot water to inhale the vapors can relieve respiratory ailments.
  • Massage: Diluted in vegetable oil, it can be massaged into painful areas to relieve muscle or joint tension.
  • Skin application: Mixed with a cream or gel, it helps heal wounds and skin irritations.

Anti-convulsant action on the nervous system such as tetany attacks: pour 2 to 3 drops of sumatra benzoin essential oil on a handkerchief and inhale deeply at the first symptoms of an attack.

  • Not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women.
