Ekygard Audevard Granules 6kg is a highly palatable supplementary feed for horses being monitored for gastric acidity, composed of plant extracts and clay.

What is Audevard Ekygard Granules 6kg used for?

Ekygard is a nutritional supplement in the form of palatable granules designed to protect gastric integrity. It has been specially formulated to :

  • a protective action on stomach walls;
  • limit acid production;
  • promote healing.

Contact between Ekygard and the gastric mucosa leads to the formation of a dense, thick, protective colloidal gel. The mucosa thus protected heals more easily. Their action is reinforced by the soothing effect of green anise and marshmallow, and the healing effect of aloe vera and liquorice. Lecithin is micro-encapsulated to be active in a highly acidic environment such as the stomach. Green anise and laminaria are microfinished. Each batch of Ekygard is controlled by the Laboratoire des Courses Hippiques.

For horses, a nutritional supplement to be used in the following cases:

  • racehorses in training;
  • horses being monitored for gastric ulcers;
  • foals on medication.

When Ekygard granules come into contact with the gastric mucosa, they form a dense, thick, protective colloidal gel. This layer acts as an essential defensive barrier for the stomach mucosa. Fibers such as kelp and ispaghul adhere to the mucosa, helping to hold pectin and lecithin together. In addition, glycerine and bentonite clay reinforce this protective layer, offering optimum protection.

Excessive gastric acid can damage the stomach lining, leading to health problems for your horse. Ekygard contains sodium bicarbonate which reacts with hydrochloric acid in the stomach, acting as a buffer to reduce acidity. This action helps prevent potential damage.

A well-protected gastric mucosa has a better capacity to heal. Ekygard benefits from the soothing effect of green anise and marshmallow, and the healing properties of aloe vera and licorice. These ingredients work in synergy to help repair any damage to the gastric mucosa.

Ekygard is a multi-purpose food supplement suitable for a variety of situations:

  • Racehorses in training: Racehorses undergo intense stress during training. Ekygard can help protect their gastric mucosa, reducing the risk of ulcers.
  • Horses treated for gastric ulcers: Horses with a history of gastric ulcers require special attention. Ekygard can be a valuable addition to their treatment and prevention.
  • Medicalized foals: Foals in need of medical care can also benefit from Ekygard's protection of their developing gastric mucosa.

Ekygard comes in palatable pellet form, making it easy to administer to your horse. You can feed it directly into your horse's mouth, or mix it into his daily feed ration. A dose of 40g (1 level scoop) twice a day is recommended for horses, while foals can take 20g (1/2 scoop) twice a day. Ekygard can be administered year-round or episodically for optimum protection.

Ekygard granules are made from a number of high-quality ingredients, including sodium bicarbonate, pectin, lecithin, bentonite clay, green anise, marshmallow, ispaghul, aloe vera and licorice. Each batch of Ekygard is rigorously controlled by the Laboratoire des Courses Hippiques to guarantee its quality and efficacy.
