Tip

Calcium is the most abundant mineral salt in the body. The human body contains between 1,000 and 1,200 g of it: 99% is found in the bones, 1% is diluted in the blood. It plays various roles in our body.
Calcium and bone
Calcium forms the framework of bones by being mixed with phosphorus in a protein matrix, thus ensuring the rigidity and solidity of the skeleton, and the hardness of teeth. Calcium is essential throughout life: it is necessary for building strong bones in children, it preserves bone density (and therefore solidity) in adults, and it plays a role in preventing osteoporosis in middle age. This is why calcium requirements are high at all ages.

Warning: this is not a product like any other. Read the package insert carefully before ordering. Keep medicines out of the reach of children. If symptoms persist, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Beware of incompatibilities with your current products.

GLOSSARY (summary)

cortisone
Hormone secreted by the adrenal glands. It helps to regulate the body's sugars, fats and proteins, but also to the body's reaction to stress. Its powerful anti-inflammatory properties are used in therapeutics. The natural cortisone is called cortisol (assayed by blood tests). Hydrocortisone is the drug form that is closest to natural cortisone and is used primarily in the treatment of cortisone deficiency diseases. Other more potent chemical derivatives are used when looking for an anti-inflammatory effect: prednisone, prednisolone, betamethasone, dexamethasone, etc.

cyclins
Family of antibiotics used especially in the treatment of acne and certain genital infections.

diuretic
Medication allowing increased kidney water removal. Most often, this loss of water follows the loss of salts caused by the drug (salidiuretic).
Diuretics are mainly used in the treatment of high blood pressure, while their mechanism of action in this disease is poorly understood. They are also prescribed in acute or chronic heart failure, edema and other rarer ailments.
These drugs cause loss of sodium and potassium (except for some of them called "potassium-sparing"). Their prolonged administration therefore requires regular blood potassium control, to avoid heart problems that may result from hypokalemia (lack of potassium in the blood). Lack of sodium is another possible but less frequent consequence of the prolonged use of diuretics; it is also detected by a blood test.

hypercalcemia
Excess of calcium in the blood, due to illness or the use of certain drugs (excess vitamin D).

renal failure
Inability of the kidneys to eliminate waste or medicinal substances. Advanced renal insufficiency does not necessarily result in a decrease in the amount of urine excreted. Only a blood test and creatinine dosage may reveal this disease.

gallstone
Concretion (stone) that forms in the excretory pathways of certain organs: urinary, biliary, salivary.
Synonym: calculation.

osteoporosis
Fragilisation of the bones, which become porous and brittle.

phenylketonuria
An inherited disease that is characterized by the absence of an enzyme and that leads to the accumulation in the blood of a toxic product. Screening is systematic at birth. Treatment is based on a specific diet during early childhood.

Magnesium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron and potassium orotates: bio-available mineral salts Magnesium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron and potassium orotates: bio-available mineral salts

Orotates, bioavailable mineral salts? It was the researcher Hans Nieper who discovered the particular properties of orotates at the end of the 1980s. These mineral salts of orotic acid indeed allow optimal mineralization . Orotatesse are found naturally in animal and plant cells. But how do orotates deposit minerals (magnesium, calcium, chromium, iron, lithium, zinc, etc.) at the heart of the cell, directly in the cell nucleus…
