What is Dakin Cooper antiseptic solution used for?

Dakin is a localantiseptic for external use. It is recommended for skin and mucous membrane antisepsis and wound antisepsis.

An antiseptic is a product that eliminates orprevents the development of bacteria or viruses. It is applied locally to the area to be treated.

Antiseptics are bacteria killers

These products momentarily eliminate or kill micro-organisms and/or inactivate certain viruses on living tissue.
The effect of antiseptics is limited to the micro-organisms present at the time of use.
Antiseptics are always used on living tissue and are indicated for the treatment of skin (healthy or damaged), while disinfectants are used for prevention, on objects.

How to use this antiseptic

DAKIN COOPER STABILISE can be applied locally, without dilution, either :

  • as washes (e.g. washing wounds),
  • as local baths (e.g. finger, foot or seat baths),
  • as irrigations,
  • soaked compresses or wet dressings.

Reapply as needed.

Method and route of administration: external use.

Procedure in case of overdose: in the event of accidental overdose, the antidote is sodium bicarbonate.

Can I use several antiseptics at the same time?

What does it contain?

Concentrated sodium hypochlorite solution corresponding to 0.5 g active chlorine per 100ml. Potassium permanganate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, purified water.

Do not use DAKIN COOPER STABILIZED, solution for local application in a vial:

· If you are allergic to the active substance or to any of the other ingredients.

· Do not apply in the eye.

· A transcutaneous passage can not be excluded in certain situations (occlusive dressing).

· As soon as the bottle is opened, microbial contamination is possible. Be careful not to keep an opened bottle too long.

· Sensations of burning or irritation (in case of major wounds or in gynecological surgery). Generally this does not require modification of the treatment.

· Risk of irritation with prolonged occlusion.

· Burn at the application site.
