Rennie Menthe is an over-the-counter medication specially designed to relieve heartburn and acid reflux in adults aged 15 and over. Its aluminum and magnesium salt-based formula acts rapidly to neutralize excessive gastric acidity, relieving the unpleasant symptoms associated with gastrointestinal disorders.

Antacid and soothing action

Rennie Mint sugar-free tablets are formulated to provide immediate and long-lasting relief from heartburn and acid reflux. Thanks to their antacid action, they effectively neutralize excess stomach acid, while their minty taste soothes and refreshes the throat, providing fast, pleasant relief.

Convenient format for daily use

Available in a box of 96 tablets, Rennie Mint Sugarfree offers a convenient format for daily use. Its economical packaging guarantees a sufficient supply to relieve recurrent episodes of heartburn and acid reflux, ensuring optimal gastrointestinal comfort.

Description of Rennie Heartburn Mint

This class of antacids neutralizes stomach acidity.

  • Made withsodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), this preparation is sold in pharmacy sachets and should not be overused, as it can cause bloating and hypertension. A risk of "rebound", i.e. an increase in acidity over time, may be associated with this preparation.
  • calcium carbonate (CaCO3), active ingredient in *Rennie® , should not be used for too long, as there is a risk of hypercalcemia.

Directions for use and advice on Rennie Menthe REMONTÉES ACIDE

  • 1 to 2 tablets at the time of heartburn or acid reflux, i.e. 4 to 8 tablets a day. In the event of more intense pain, the dosage may be briefly increased to 12 tablets a day.

If symptoms persist despite Rennie's high dosage, we recommend Nexium Control esomeprazole 20 mg (inexium without prescription) as a one- to two-week course of treatment.

Composition of Rennie Menthe 96 sugar-free chewable tablets

Calcium carbonate 680 mg, Heavy magnesium carbonate 80 mg, Excipients: potato starch, pregelatinized corn starch, magnesium stearate, talc, light liquid kerosene, mint flavor, lemon flavor, sucrose qsp one tablet.

Precautions for use with Rennie Menthe sans sucre

If symptoms persist beyond 10 days of treatment, or if they worsen, an etiological investigation should be carried out and the course of action reassessed.

  • This drug should not be used as a course of treatment lasting more than 10 days: adverse reactions have been observed when combined with thiazide diuretics or in patients taking large quantities of milk or milk products, particularly during prolonged treatment.
  • If 4 to 8 tablets per day are exceeded, such treatment should be of short duration, should not be continued after symptoms have disappeared, and should not exceed 12 tablets per day.
  • This medicine contains 475 mg sucrose per tablet: take this into account in the daily ration.

Undesirable effects :

  • Magnesium-related: possible diarrhoea at high doses.
  • Calcium-related (272 mg per tablet): in prolonged use at high doses, hypercalcemia may occur, with risk of nephrolithiasis and renal failure.

Advice from your chemist

RENNIE BAYER MENTHE 96 COMPRIMÉS may be available over the counter in certain pharmacies; however, ask your pharmacist for advice. A balanced diet, slow chewing, avoiding foods that are difficult to digest and alcoholic beverages can often alleviate the symptoms of acid reflux or stomach inflammation. If you are a smoker, continuing to smoke is a major obstacle to treatment: nicotine increases gastric acidity and reduces the effectiveness of the muscle that closes the junction between the esophagus and the stomach. For more details, consult our advice section: Gastric reflux.

What to take for heartburn?

The role of the stomach is to begin the digestion of food while killing the microbes that accompany it. To digest food, the stomach subjects it to powerful acidity. The stomach is lined with gastric mucus, which protects it from this acidity. The ratio between protection (by gastric mucus) and acidity is balanced.

However, if too much gastric acid is secreted, or if the gastric mucus is less effective in protecting the stomach, the balance is upset and heartburn occurs.

The most common symptoms are burning, pain and stomach cramps. They are located in the upper abdomen, in the pit of the stomach, behind the breastbone and in the chest. Symptoms most often appear after meals or at bedtime.

GLOSSARY (summary)

NSAIDs
Abbreviation for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Family of anti-inflammatory drugs that are not derived from cortisone (steroids), and the best known of which is aspirin.

antacids
A drug that neutralizes the acidity of gastric secretions or blocks the glands responsible for acid secretion.

antibiotics
A substance capable of blocking the multiplication of certain bacteria or killing them. The spectrum of an antibiotic is the set of bacteria on which this product is usually active. Unlike bacteria, viruses are not susceptible to antibiotics. The first antibiotics were extracted from mushroom cultures: penicillium (penicillin), streptomyces (streptomycin). They are currently manufactured by chemical synthesis. Antibiotics are divided into families: penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides, tetracyclines (cyclines), sulphonamides, aminoglycosides, lincosanides, phenicolates, polymyxins, quinolones, imidazoles, etc.
Inappropriate use of antibiotics may lead to the development of resistance: use antibiotics only on medical prescription, adhere to its dosage and duration, do not give or advise another person an antibiotic prescribed for you .

inflammation
Natural reaction of the organism against an element recognized as foreign. It manifests itself locally by redness, heat, pain or swelling.

renal failure
Inability of the kidneys to eliminate waste or medicinal substances. Advanced renal insufficiency does not necessarily result in a decrease in the amount of urine excreted. Only a blood test and creatinine dosage may reveal this disease.

mucous
Tissue (membrane) that lines the cavities and ducts of the body communicating with the outside (digestive tract, respiratory tract, urinary tract, etc.).

symptoms
Trouble felt by a person with an illness. The same symptom can translate different diseases and the same disease does not necessarily give the same symptoms in all the patients.
