Precautions for use and observed side effects

In animals: The product is water-resistant; it remains effective if the animal gets wet. However, prolonged and intense exposure to water or intensive shampooing should be avoided, as this may reduce the product's duration of activity. Studies show that immersion in water or monthly shampooing does not significantly shorten the 8-month efficacy period against ticks after release of the active substances onto the coat, while efficacy against fleas gradually diminishes from the 5th month onwards.

For the user: Keep the sachet containing the collar in its box until use. As with all veterinary medicines, do not allow young children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths. Animals wearing the collar should not be allowed to sleep in the same bed as their owners, especially children. People with a known hypersensitivity to the collar's ingredients should avoid direct contact with it.

Occasionally, slight behavioral disturbances, including scratching at the application site, may be observed in animals not accustomed to wearing collars, during the first few days after application.

Make sure Seresto Cat collars are not too tight. Slight reactions at the application site, such as pruritus, erythema and hair loss, may occur. These reactions have rarely been reported in cats and usually disappear within 1 or 2 weeks without removing the collar.

In some cases, temporary removal of the flea collar may be recommended until symptoms disappear. In very rare cases in cats, reactions at the application site such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur, in which case removal of the Seresto collar is recommended. In rare cases, cats may initially experience mild, transient reactions such as depression, change in food intake, salivation, vomiting and diarrhea.
