Advice from your expert pharmacist

Phytostandards are produced from plants preferably from organic farming and whose origin is traced. Manufactured using a patented extraction process, they benefit from PhytoPrevent 's expertise and know-how.

Saffron is a rare spice and exceptionally rich in antioxidants and active ingredients .
It is the stigmas (parts of the pistil) of the crocus sativus that are used. The vermilion red color attests to its good origin and quality. Saffron is rich in magnesium, manganese, iron, beta carotene and vitamins B6, B9 and C.

The active ingredients of Saffron

  • Crocin and crocetin : pigments from the carotenoid family recognized for their antioxidant properties and responsible for the color of the spice
  • Picrocrocin : what gives it its taste
  • Safranal : its main active ingredient, is responsible for its smell and its virtues on the nervous system

The properties of saffron for the body: Safranal acts directly on the central nervous system. In particular, it influences mood hormones and mainly serotonin . Indeed in times of stress and low morale, there is a marked decrease in these hormones within the body. Saffron can help rebalance these hormones and therefore the emotions in order to quickly regain morale, appeasement and serenity. Finally, stress generates the excessive production of free radicals within the body, a phenomenon that accelerates the premature aging of our cells and can be the cause of various diseases. The powerful antioxidant properties of saffron are very interesting since they will help to counter these harmful effects.
