What is Ecoidées Psyllium Powder Organic used for?
The mucilage in Ecoidées Psyllium Blond en Poudre Bio acts as an intestinal regulator! It helps to rebalance, purify, activate, preserve, soften and lubricate the mucous membranes of the entire intestinal tract, from the stomach to the colon.
Its benefits for intestinal flora and the cardiovascular system are due to the mucilage content of its tegument (the husk that surrounds the seed), which provides high-quality fiber particularly suited to supplementing our modern diet, which often lacks it.
Psyllium Blond (Plantago Ovata), also known as pink plantain or ispaghul, is mainly native to India, but can also be found in Pakistan and Iran, and has been known for thousands of years for its formidable properties. Its name comes from the Greek "psyllia" (flea), due to the tiny size of its seeds (1,000 seeds weigh less than 2 grams). This plant is used to treat constipation.
More than 10 centuries BC, Egyptian physicians were already using psyllium as a laxative and to treat inflammation of the urinary tract. It has also been known for centuries in Europe, Asia and North Africa. In India and China, psyllium was traditionally used to treat diarrhea, hemorrhoids and hypertension.
Psyllium is a ballast laxative. The mucilaginous substances it contains absorb water from food. In the intestines, they form a "gel" that increases stool weight and improves stool consistency. Compared with other ballast laxatives, psyllium is more effective than calcium polycarbophil, methylcellulose or wheat bran. However, psyllium's mucilages are contained in the seed husk, not in the seed itself. Ingestion of the seeds can be irritating to the intestines, and is of no benefit when compared with the seed coat powder, which alone optimizes the effect of psyllium and gives it all its properties.

How to use Psyllium Blond Powder?
- To gently acclimatize the digestive system, start with one teaspoon/day, then increase doses to 2 tablespoons or more, depending on the desired effect. No overdosing is possible, except in cases of extreme sensitivity or allergy.
- For a hearty but very low-calorie snack or breakfast, make an organic Psyllium Blond Powder jelly with apple or mango juice. Mix, wait 30 minutes or prepare the day before.
- For a specific appetite-suppressant effect, mix a heaped teaspoon of psyllium in a glass of water and consume between meals, repeating immediately after each meal.
- To provide fiber for intestinal comfort, mix a tablespoon of psyllium in a glass of water and take at mealtime.
- You can choose to consume psyllium already hydrated in gel form (wait about 20 minutes after mixing it with liquid) or, better still, consume it immediately after mixing: it will swell in your stomach and cleanse the intestinal walls.
- Psyllium's action is purely mechanical: it is not absorbed by the body.
- Eat in yoghurt or applesauce. Can also be used as a thickener for sauces, broths, jellies, etc.
