Practical advice to prevent constipation in children

Introduction to preventing constipation

Constipation can be a common problem in children, but fortunately, there are strategies to help prevent this digestive problem. Parents and guardians can adopt a variety of measures to maintain their children's intestinal health and prevent constipation. These include dietary modifications, appropriate drinking habits and encouraging regular exercise.

A balanced diet rich in fiber

Introduce a variety offiber-rich foods into your child's diet. This includes fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts. Fiber helps add bulk to stool, making it easier to pass through the intestine.

Adequate hydration

Encourage your child to drink enough water throughout the day. Water helps soften stools, making them easier to eliminate. Limit consumption of sugary drinks, which can contribute to dehydration.

Regular physical exercise

Physical activity stimulates intestinal muscle movement, helping to move stool through the digestive tract. Encourage your child to take part in regular physical activities, such as playing outside, cycling or participating in team sports.

Establish a toilet routine

Establish a regular toilet routine for your child. Encourage him to use the toilet after meals or at specific times of the day. This can help regulate bowel movements.

Medical consultation

If, despite these preventive measures, your child still suffers from constipation, don't hesitate to consult a healthcare professional. He or she can provide further advice or prescribe an appropriate treatment, such as Importal 5 g, to help relieve constipation.

In summary, a balanced diet, adequate hydration, regular exercise and a regular toilet routine can help prevent constipation in children. In the event of persistent constipation, medical consultation is recommended.
