What is Dr Valnet Laurel organic essential oil 5ml used for?
Laurel essential oil has anti-infectious properties with pulmonary and ENT tropism. It is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, mucolytic and expectorant. It is an analgesic, antineuralgic and anti-inflammatory essential oil. It is also anti-epileptic, anti-diabetic through alpha-glucosidase inhibition and anti-oxidant. It improves alertness by inhalation. It is antioxidant and antiproliferative against leukemia and breast cancer cells. It is a regulator of the vegetative nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic), as well as a relaxant, especially topically.
This is the real laurel (Laurus nobilis - Lauraceae family), not to be confused with the toxic cherry laurel. In ancient times, laurel, dedicated to Apollo and then to his son Aesculapius (Greek god of medicine), crowned Greek and Roman heroes. The essential oil extracted from the leaves has many virtues, notably digestive and relaxing.
Laurel essential oil, developed by Dr Valnet, stands out for its remarkable antimicrobial properties. It acts as a powerful immunostimulant, with notable bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal activity. Its efficacy against various pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella typhimurium, is significant. In addition, this oil has demonstrated effective antiviral action, with inhibitory activity against replication of the SARS-CoV and HSV-1 viruses. These properties make it particularly effective in the treatment of pulmonary and ENT infections.
In analgesic and anti-inflammatory terms, bay laurel essential oil has been compared to substances such as morphine and piroxicam. The 1,8-cineole present in the oil has been shown in vitro to have an anti-inflammatory effect on monocytes, significantly reducing mediators of pulmonary inflammation. Eugenol and MT carbides reinforce this action, effectively targeting arachidonic acid metabolites, leukotriene B, thromboxane-B and prostaglandin E, as well as TNF-α.
As an antispasmodic, laurel essential oil contains 1,8 cineole and terpenyl acetate, which act on the smooth muscles of the trachea. ST lactones also help slow gastric emptying, making this essential oil useful in the treatment of digestive disorders.
This oil is recognized for its beneficial effects on the nervous system. It is neurotonic and cerebral stimulant, regulating the autonomic nervous system, both sympathetic and parasympathetic. These properties make it particularly suitable for improving digestion and reducing stress. Laurel is traditionally associated with fame and success. According to aromatherapy, this essential oil promotes self-confidence and helps combat stress and anxiety. It also stimulates concentration and memory, positively influencing courage, willpower and assertiveness.
Laurel oil has other virtues, notably anti-sclerosing, lymphatic-regulating and vaso-coronary-dilating properties. It has anti-diabetic effects through alpha-glucosidase inhibition, and antioxidant and anti-proliferative actions against certain cancer cells. It is also effective as anexpectorant and mucolytic, stimulating the exocrine glands of the respiratory mucosa. Laurel essential oil is also an effective insecticide, notably against lice, mites and flour beetles. It also acts as a repellent against moths, adding an extra dimension to its spectrum of use.
