Use customized herbal preparations
Easily compose your own customized herbal preparations, based on pharmaceutical-grade medicinal plants in all forms: herbal teas, infusions, capsules of titrated dry plant extracts (Titrex), lotions, gels, sprays, ova and suppositories. Here are the main Titrex extracts: Hawthorn, Fucus vesiculosus, Harpagophytum, Orthosiphon, Passionflower and the most commonly used dry plants: Roman Chamomile (flower), Saffron (stigma), Senna (leaf), Linden carpentras, Sweet Verbena (leaf).
Phytotherapy is not all about the potency and quality of the plant. The way in which plants are prepared (known as galenic preparations) and their dosage play an important role in their effect on the body. Each form of use has its own specificity and appropriate procedure.
Phytotherapy is based on the use of medicinal plants with proven therapeutic properties. The preparation of formulations, known as galenics, plays an essential role in the efficacy of treatments. Compose your own customized preparations using pharmaceutical-grade plants available in a variety of forms.
- Herbal teas and infusions: aqueous extracts for traditional use.
- Titrated dry extract capsules (Titrex): for standardized concentration and precise dosage.
- Lotions, gels and sprays: for cutaneous or mucosal application.
- Ovules and suppositories: for localized, specific administration.
Titrated extracts guarantee a homogeneous concentration of active ingredients for consistent efficacy. Titrex extracts include
- Hawthorn(Crataegus monogyna): cardiotonic and soothing properties,
- Fucus vesiculosus: metabolism stimulant,
- Harpagophytum(Harpagophytum procumbens): natural anti-inflammatory,
- Orthosiphon(Orthosiphon stamineus): kidney drainer,
- Passion flower(Passiflora incarnata): natural sedative.
Dried plants are a classic base for many preparations:
- Roman chamomile(Chamaemelum nobile, flower): soothing and digestive,
- Saffron(Crocus sativus, stigma): emotional balancer,
- Senna(Senna alexandrina, leaf): stimulating laxative,
- Carpentras linden(Tilia platyphyllos, bracts): calming and diuretic,
- Sweet Verbena(Aloysia citrodora, leaf): digestive and relaxing.
The efficacy of a phytotherapeutic treatment depends not only on the quality of the plants used, but also on their preparation and dosage. Each galenic form is designed to meet specific objectives:
- Maximized extraction of active ingredients,
- Optimized bioavailability,
- Adaptation to physiological and therapeutic needs.
Mastery of galenic preparations and dosages guarantees targeted, safe results, offering a personalized, effective therapeutic approach.
Herbal teas
Herbal tea preparations involve using water to extract the plant's active ingredients. It's worth noting, however, that certain combinations don't mix well, such as meadowsweet and
burdock root, as the latter cancels out the effects of the former. There are three types of herbal tea: infusion, decoction and maceration.
- Infusion involves pouring boiling water over plants just as they come to the boil. One or more plants are then left to infuse for a certain length of time (ranging from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the variety). To speed up the release of active ingredients, you can whisk the infusion with a tea whisk or wooden spoon. Infusions are made from tea, flowers and rare leaves such as meadowsweet, or roots such as marshmallow.
- Decoction involves immersing plants in cold water, then heating the water until it boils. Then continue boiling for 5 to 10 minutes, or even half an hour, depending on the plant. Leave to infuse, keeping the lid on the pot, before filtering. This technique is preferable for leaves and roots.
- Maceration is the same preparation, but requires you to leave the plants and the extracting liquid to rest for hours, or even a fortnight.
Preparations with alcohol
- Mother tinctures, also known as hydroalcoholic extracts: highly concentrated medicines obtained by alcoholic maceration of plants in strong alcohol for 2 to 3 weeks.
- Alcoholatures: exhaustion of fresh plants by 95° alcohol (more diluted preparations than mother tinctures).
- Alcoholates : plants macerate in alcohol for 2 to 7 days before distillation.
- Glycerine macerates (gemmotherapy): maceration of plants in their bud or young shoot stage in alcohol and glycerine.
- Elixirs: maceration of plants in a solution of alcohol and sugar or honey.
- Medicinal wines : plants are macerated in red or white wine for a few days to several weeks. The preparation is then filtered and drunk in a glass before or after each meal. Can be stored in a cool place for several months.
