    What is Docteur Valnet Eucalyptus radiata organic essential oil used for?

    Eucalyptus radiata essential oil has anticatarrhal, expectorant, antitussive and antiviral properties. It is an immune stimulant. It is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Eucalyptus radiata (myrtaceae family) is one of the 700 species of eucalyptus found in Australia. Its leaves, much appreciated by koalas, contain a remarkably effective essential oil for better breathing.

    Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil, characterized by its high eucalyptol content, has a wide range of therapeutic virtues.

    Its mode of action is based on several biochemical and pharmacological mechanisms:

    • Expectorant and mucolytic properties: 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) has a stimulating effect on the exocrine glands of the respiratory mucosa, contributing to the liquefaction andevacuation of bronchial secretions. The presence of alpha-pinene reinforces this action by reducing mucus production.
    • Bronchodilator action: Eucalyptol can also relax airway smooth muscle, opening bronchial tubes and facilitating breathing.
    • Antiviral and antibacterial activity: constituents such as alpha-terpineol and 1,8-cineole demonstrate an ability to inhibit the multiplication of certain viruses and to manifest bactericidal activity against various microorganisms.
    • Immunostimulant effect: Terpinene-4-ol, in particular, is recognized for its role inincreasing the phagocytic activity of immune cells.
    • Anti-inflammatory potential: This essential oil moderates the release of pro-inflammatory substances, thus reducing inflammation.
    • Analgesic properties: Eucalyptol interacts with the sensory receptors that transmit pain and cold signals.
    • Parasiticide and pediculicide effect: It has a repellent action against certain parasites.

    What are the precautions for use?

    • Not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women.
