What is Docteur Valnet Clove organic essential oil used for?

Clove essential oil is a powerful, broad-spectrum antibacterial, antifungal, intestinal flora regulator and carminative. It is parasiticidal (highly effective against lice), deworming and acaricidal. It is an immunostimulant essential oil, anti-allergic through inhibition of histamine release by mast cells, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It is also a local analgesic, an anesthetic for the oral cavity and a pulp cauterizer. It is anticonvusive, anti-inflammatory, hypertensive and gastroprotective. It is a central nervous system depressant, as well as a uterine and sexual tonic.

Clove (Eugenia caryophyllus - family Myrtaceae) is a dried flower bud from the clove tree, a green tree native to the Moluccan Islands, now cultivated in Madagascar. It is also very useful for flavoring traditional dishes, seasoning raw vegetables and making them easier to digest.

Clove oil, derived from cloves (Syzygium aromaticum), is a complex therapeutic agent with multiple pharmacological activities. It is mainly characterized by its high eugenol content, the major phenolic compound responsible for most of its properties.

Eugenol exerts an anti-platelet aggregation effect by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in the platelet aggregation process. As an anticonvulsant, eugenol inhibits convulsions by acting on the central nervous system. Its anti-inflammatory action is attributed to inhibition of theCox-2 enzyme, thus reducing inflammation mechanisms. Clove essential oil acts as a spasmolytic by blocking calcium channels, thus preventing or reducing muscle spasms. The eugenol in clove oil provides a local anesthetic and analgesic effect, traditionally used in dentistry to disinfect and anesthetize.

The oil is recognized for its specific antiviral action against Helicobacter pylori, a pathogen associated with gastric disorders, and for its notable antibacterial action, particularly effective against oral pathogens such as Prevotella intermedia and nosocomial bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is also active against Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli, inhibiting the formation of bacterial biofilms. The antifungal efficacy of clove oil has been confirmed against Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans and Aspergillus fumigatus, making it useful in the treatment of fungal infections such as mycotic vaginitis. Cloves, and by extension their essential oil, increase leukocyte count , counteracting the immunosuppression induced by agents such as cyclophosphamide.

Clove oil is also known for its stimulant, neurotonic and digestive properties. It has beneficial effects on uterine toning, particularly in preparation for childbirth, and acts as an anti-asthenic and aphrodisiac agent. Its purifying properties contribute to digestive and intestinal health, preventing fermentations and parasitic infections. It has a tonic action on the parasympathetic plus (+) autonomic nervous system and exerts an influence on various endocrine glands, including the pituitary and adrenal glands.

Clove oil has anti-allergic properties, inhibiting histamine release, and antioxidant properties. Eugenol has a mild hypertensive effect, which should be taken into account in the management of patients suffering from hypertension.

We also offerItalian Helichrysum essential oil from the specialist aromatherapy laboratory Dr Valnet, at the best price in our online pharmacy.
