What is Dr Valnet Balsam Fir Organic Essential Oil 10ml used for?

Balsam fir essential oil has balsamic, antiseptic and respiratory antispasmodic properties. It is anti-inflammatory, locally analgesic and rubefacient. It is a tonic and general stimulant. This essential oil is also antioxidant and anti-tumor.

A large, majestic tree, balsam fir (Abies balsamea - family Abietaceae) is the most polar of the firs. Its gum-resin has been used by Amerindians since ancient times, and is the source of "Canadian balsam". The essential oil extracted from the needles and twigs has a mild, pleasant balsamic scent.

Rich in alpha and beta pinenes, as well as bornyl acetate, Balsam Fir essential oil is particularly well known for its analgesic properties, notably in the treatment of rheumatic pain by local application. It also acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory, thanks to bornyl acetate which modulates the inflammatory reaction, thus limiting its undesirable effects. This action is reinforced by its cortison-like properties, which stimulate the pituitary-cortical-adrenal axis, making the essential oil useful in prolonged inflammatory states.

In terms of antimicrobial efficacy, this essential oil is effective against bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Actinomadura madurae. It potentiates the effect of various antibiotics on Escherichia coli, and has antiviral and antifungal properties, inhibiting biofilm formation in Candida albicans. On the anticancer front, the alpha-pinene contained in this oil activates NK cells and increases their cytotoxicity, showing potential in the fight against cancer.

Balsam fir oil is also renowned for its expectorant and mucolytic properties. It is effective for soothing coughs, acting as an antitussive and balsamic agent. It promotes respiratory oxygenation and increases the kinetics of mucociliary transport, particularly in the sinuses, making it useful in the treatment of respiratory ailments.

In addition to these main virtues, Balsam Fir essential oil offers other benefits. It is recognized for its balsamic and antiasthenic effects, particularly on the adrenal glands. It acts as a rubefacient, improving local blood circulation, and is a general tonic and stimulant, thanks to the presence of monoterpene carbides. These molecules also contribute to its antiparasitic and antirheumatic properties. Finally, its respiratory antiseptic action is notable, particularly effective in purifying the atmosphere of pathogens such as fungi, viruses and bacteria.

We also offerMountain Savory essential oil from the specialist aromatherapy laboratory Dr Valnet, at the best price in our online pharmacy.
