What is Dr Valnet Clary Sage Organic Essential Oil 10ml used for?
Clary sage essential oil has aphrodisiac, antidiabetic, anti-infectious, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is phlebotonic and neurotonic. It is a relaxing and antispasmodic essential oil. It is also anxiolytic and antidepressant through modulation of dopaminergic pathways. It is also an external healing agent.
A tall, vigorous perennial, clary sage (Salvia sclarea - family Lamiaceae) yields an essential oil with a pleasant, musky amber fragrance. Unlike common sage, clary sage contains virtually no thujones, which are toxic to the nervous system.
Clary Sage essential oil is rich in compounds such as sclareol, linalyl acetate and linalool, as well as monoterpene alcohols and sesquiterpene carbides. These molecules give it remarkable properties, including estrogen-like activity, thanks to sclareol, which mimics the action of estrogen and is particularly beneficial in managing menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes.
In terms of antimicrobial activity, Clary Sage oil acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory, bactericide, antiviral and antifungal agent. It is effective in vitro against Candida albicans and Aspergillus flavus. Thebactericidal mechanism ofaction involves damage to the bacterial cell membrane, leading to leakage of cytosol and reduced intracellular ATP concentrations, as well as a reduction in nuclear DNA content in bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
Clary Sage essential oil is also recognized for its antispasmodic and sedative effects. It is effective against digestive and intestinal spasms and acts as a nervous relaxant and rebalancer, thanks in particular to the presence of linalool. This molecule acts on synapses by regulating glutamate production, helping to combat stress, anxiety and sleep disorders.
In addition to these properties, Clary Sage oil offers many other benefits. It is neurotonic and antidepressant, helping to regulate dopaminergic pathways. Its relaxing and anxiolytic action makes it useful in cases of female urinary incontinence. It is also an aphrodisiac, astringent, skin tonic, cardiac regulator, antidiabetic and antioxidant. In addition, its phebotonic and neurotonic properties, as well as its external healing effect, make it a versatile essential oil. Finally, it has insecticidal activity, notably against the phytophagous caterpillar Spodoptera littoralis.
