Causes of pain in adults
Pain in adults is caused by events that disrupt the organism: an accident, a burn or, more often than not, an inflammatory reaction. Inflammation is a natural mechanism for protecting and repairing the body. It involves chemical substances secreted by immune cells, some of which stimulate pain receptors. Pain expression in the elderly
Pain is common among the elderly, and is often linked to a number of chronic conditions, particularly those affecting the locomotor system(sciatic pain, osteoarthritis, muscular pain, etc.). A perception that varies from one individual to another
Pain is an extremely complex sensation to which everyone reacts in totally different ways. - antiepileptics: carbamazepine (TEGRETOL and generics) and phenytoin are used to treat intractable facial neuralgia and neuropathic pain; gabapentin (NEURONTIN and generics) is used to treat pain following shingles in adults; pregabalin (LYRICA) is indicated for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
